About to release her debut solo single, ‘OMG’, former Mis-Teeq songstress and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here contestant Sabrina Washington takes the Ctrl.Alt.Shift verbal assault course…

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

I love Jamaica and I really love Dubai.

And what’s the most absurd and poverty-ridden situation you've witnessed in either of those countries?

In every single country there’s a high, middle and a low class and it’s everywhere. It’s weird considering there’s enough money in the world for everyone to be okay and people are still living like that.

So which class do you define as being poverty-ridden?

Anyone living on the streets on a whole. In the UK there should be no reason for that. And people living in shacks - that’s poverty for me. There’s enough money to go around but as they say the rich get richer and the poor stay down.

If you had to move to a foreign country which country would it be?

I don’t know. I do like Dubai but I really like the West Indies as well. Then again, I love America too… I love New York because I love the hustle and the bustle; it’s very much like the UK. But what I love about New York is that if you put in the work you’re guaranteed to get a result, whereas over here you can put in loads of work but it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting a result.

In England if you have to live on a pound a day (the majority of the world does live on under £1 a day) what would you spend it on?

That’s seven pound a week right? I’ve grown up in a very close-knit family but I’m sure that myself, my mum, dad, brothers and sisters would put it together and make something great. Being in the jungle in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here I’ve learnt you can live on the minimal sometimes. I used to consume just to consume and not think about it. There used to be loads of times I’d thrown away stuff that was still in the packaging.

I bet you feel bad now about that, knowing what it’s like living off beans and rice?

Definitely. I do eat more sparingly now because I know I don’t need to have loads and loads of stuff. I used to go to the supermarket and pick stuff up that I didn’t really need. I used to buy clothes that I wouldn’t wear as well. But now I think about it first.

If you could be any politician, dictator or world leader, who would you have been?

Martin Luther King because I like the fact that he thought about change and movement but in a peaceful way and everyone followed him.

As opposed to Malcolm X, good choice. What’s the worse form of torture you can imagine?

I can’t swim so it would definitely be drowning. My mum couldn’t swim she had a fear of swimming so when everyone was going swimming at my school, my mum was like “you’re not going”…. I have tried to take swimming lessons but because I haven’t been regularly it doesn’t work for me.

That is epic. What would make you start a war?

I don’t know. I don’t think there’s a reason for any wars. Like why can’t you come to a compromise without fighting? Sometimes the world is about egos and sometimes you have to barge past your ego and think of what your end goal is.

Would you rather shoot a kid or let off a nuclear bomb in central London?

None of the above thank you.

In many developing countries the soldiers have to make these decision everyday. Which one would you pick?

None of them.

You’d rather become an outlaw ?

Yep, I’d become an outlaw I couldn’t do that. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.

You seem quite adamant about that one. What’s the most bizarre food you've ever eaten?

Crocodile steak. It kinda tastes like Conk.

Sorry what?

Conk fish they have it in the Bahamas. It’s fish, it’s just a really hard fish. Crocodile isn’t something I’d eat again - I ate it when I was in the jungle and you know what they say; when in Rome do as the Romans do… basically.

Three things you’re listening two other than yourself?

I love Chipmunk ft Talay Riley, 'Look For Me'; it’s doing a lot for me. I’m listening to Ke$ha and Musiq Soul Child at the moment too.
