Haiti Is Now About 98% Deforested

One reason why Haiti suffers more than its neighbours from natural disasters like hurricanes and flooding is its massive deforestation, under way in the country since the time of the French occupation. Since the population has soared, the forests have come down. Haiti is now about 98% deforested.
