The Corruption Issue

This magazine should give you an idea about what we do and why. We've themed it around corruption, the greatest obstacle in overcoming poverty. But while it would be all too easy to point the blame at the developing world, where we presume everyone's got their fingers in the pot, we need to recognise the problem, as ever, starts much closer to home.
A perfect reminder was served when news broke recently that the Serious Fraud Office's case against BAE systems was being reopened, a case that Tony Blair previously dropped following political pressure.
Likewise, we shouldn't ignore the fact that the body that audits the EU budget has refused to sign off their accounts for the last 15 years on the basis that their systems are so lax making the job effectively pointless.
