‘Power Dressing’ is an event created and inspired by Platform2 volunteers who spent ten weeks in developing countries (Ghana, Nepal, Kenya, Peru, South Africa and India), where they got to witness first-hand, the scandal that is poverty.

Now back in London, the group of volunteers are determined to be part of the solution to poverty and are working with Christian Aid to empower people through fashion. Ten eclectic and exciting African designers (Ohema Ohene, Mia Nisbit, Afro-Chique, Chichia London, Akabi, Kiko Romeo and Ruweyda Dool), have all been invited to show off their talents in this unique event which celebrates and highlights the African fashion scene. Fairtrade and ethical issues will be at the forefront as each of these ethical designers will showcase their collections.

There will also be live music and entertainment with acts such as The Thirst, Juiliyaa & The Groove Control, spoken word poet Alim Kamara and a DJ to round things off. Vox Africa TV (a new African channel on Sky) will be filming on the night, with footage possibly being featured at a later date on their channel.

Get ready for an action packed show bursting with nothing but pure entertainment and inspired by colourful, intricate and stunning themes from African culture. Power Dressing is a fashion spectacle with a difference. Whether you ponder at the thought-provoking poets, indulge in the splendours of the fashion designers or dance away to a healthy dose of live music, their aim is to leave you feeling inspired whilst more importantly delivering a clear message; Empowerment.
