There are rumblings in the jungle. The UN fears rebels from Lords Resistance Army are marauding around DR Congo and could invade the Central African Republic. UN workers claim 500 people have died as the rebels move from village to village, setting light to buildings, abducting children and raping women.
Zimabawean activists have little hope of get out of free jail card. A Zimbabwean judge has ruled that 16 activists accused of organising military training to topple Mugabe cannot be freed. Human rights activist Jestina Mukoko went missing for three weeks before being brought to court. Going missing in Zimbabwe is never a good thing.
Sob stories count for nothing in Ethiopia. Birtukan Mideksa, a young charismatic judge and single mother due to be separated from her baby, has been given a life sentence, after a pardon granted to her last year was revoked. A leading opposition leader in the country, Medeksa is accused of treason and was originally arrested in 2005.
Do many people in Denmark want to holiday in Iraq? If they do, they now have the chance. The first flight from Europe to Iraq in 17 years landed in Bagdad airport, arriving in from Copenhagen. Hopefully the airport is prepared for the amount of people wanting to leave.
What did one Muslim say to another Muslim as they boarded an airplane? Apparently the New Year's Day AirTran flight expected them to say nothing. Nine Muslims passengers were ordered off the US domestic flight after passengers heard one of them make what they thought were suspicious remarks.
