Are you in that "What the hell do I do next with my life" mode? It happens to the very best of us, whether you've just graduated from university, are half-way through and looking for a year out, or have finished your A-levels and are in hot pursuit of a year of work.

For those of you that the above applies to, the Ctrl.Alt.Shift gap year is your chance to make exciting movements. As you already know, Ctrl.Alt.Shift is a global movement for change, with the initiative itself funded by Christian Aid.

It's nine priceless months, from September 2009 - June 2010, of networking, crossing borders and barriers, rallying up your fellow peers to make a difference, and proving to any sceptics that we are the generation of promise and positive change.

There are plenty of placements available as gap year volunteers are required in area offices across the UK, from London to Belfast, Glasgow to Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Bristol, Ashby, Peterborough, Sheffield, Norwich, Cardiff, Exmouth, Birmingham, Lewes, Oxford and Liverpool. The perks? Well for starters, after this gap year of leading youth group sessions, organising events and being a general ambassador for this anti-poverty, anti-injustice movement - expect your CV to be well and truly golden. So far this year Ctrl.Alt.Shift has worked with talents as diverse as David Shrigley, Julian Barratt, Estelle, Young Knives, Sam Roddick and Chipmunk so if you're into networking, you can't do better. This is a platform for potentially greater things.

The scheme has been the best placement imaginable for me coming straight out of university - with the best part being the trip to DRCongo last November. I could write a dissertation on how amazing, humbling and inspiring those days were.
