Film Competition

Congratulations to Alexandra Monro + Sheila Menon who won the People's Choice Vote with their entry 'No Way Through'.

'No Way Through' highlights mobility restrictions imposed by the Israeli government that are limiting Palestinians’ access to health care, thus violating their right to health. The film will portray a fictitious scenario of one young individual, living in a British city... On his way to work he's involved in a collision but on his route to hospital, his journey's littered with blockages, checkpoints and soldiers. The film stops suddenly and we reveal that it's not fiction - 2.7 million Palestinians live in these conditions in the West Bank today."

What Sheila said: "Wow! I can't quite believe it! Just want to say a BIG thank you to everyone who voted."

What we say:

"I like this more than a lot of the entries because they have a clear narrative that's less extreme and more every day." Riz Ahmed.

"All the politicians are talking about this subject at the moment, but it would be great to see it from a young person’s perspective... good luck." Adam Deacon.

"No Way Through makes an instant connection with the viewer allowing them to think ‘what if?’ through the transportation of everyday life realities in war torn areas into a UK setting. Alexandra and Shelia’s treatment shows real understanding of both the issues surrounding their story and the confidence to turn their words into a compelling short." Amplify + Ctrl.Alt.Shift.
