Bashy aka Mr Bish Bash Bosh, rapper, actor and now officially my weirdest interview ever.

I knew 25-year old Londoner Bashy was a bit different when, last year, he made the '60s psychedelia inspired video with H-Boogie for 'Your Wish Is My Command', and donned a pair of flares, but this meeting of minds was something else...

Currently in the lime light thanks to his role in the film Shank (knife), it was only right that we lined him up for our verbal assault course. First though (and with his tune 'Black Boys' to consider) I wanted to know what Bashy thought about his role in British movies. "I want to show a diverse acting spectrum, I'm not trying to do the same roles over and over again it's not really for me. I like fantasy films, I like The Ring and Avatar, that kind of thing. I even like James Bond and other action films."

Where future roles are concerned, Bashy is set to star in Noel Clarkes next film '4,3,2,1', out in Spring 2010, and there's his role in the musical Markus The Sadist, which goes some way in explaining his love for Lady Gaga's theatrics, magical music and appearance. 

Moving onto music, the trade he's primarily known for, Bashy reveals he's working on some exciting new projects. "I'm on the Gorillaz album and me and Kano have done a track together..." he says lazily. I almost find myself wondering when Gorillaz became something to talk unexcitedly about. "Nah, it's not that I'm not excited. I'm 'nuff excited but I'm just trying to play it down cause otherwise I'll just be too too happy man. That's a big thing you know. Gorillaz are massive..." he confesses.

But with the small talk out of the way it was time to get down to Question of Port business. Be prepared to be totally weirded out, emotionally drained and generally bemused by the results of this test...

Favourite holiday destination?
Mali, in West Africa.

What's the most absurd and poverty ridden situation you've witnessed there?
Kids just sleeping on the streets.

So I guess you must have felt bad knowing you were walking by to go and sleep in a nice hotel?
You know what yeah. Every single way I could try and help I tried. Get me. If I had food and I was walking past I'd give it to them cause there was nuff homeless people who stayed where I was staying. I don't think that you should feel bad or like you're a fucked up person or whatever I just think you should try and help as much as you can. 

If you had to move to a foreign country which country would it be and why?
Somewhere like Ghana, Ghana's popping and there's good people there. It's the mother land, I don't think I'd want to go anywhere other than that.

True.. true.. How would you live on a pound a day? (the majority of the world do live on under £1 a day)
I'd buy rice and then boil it, and then sell it to people in cups for 20p a cup.

No soap?
I'd steal it [Laughs] actually you know what? I would nick it, that's what I'd do. The shops where the soaps are outside yeah? I'd be stealing it and you know where there's fruit and veg stalls? Yup, I'd be stealing from those too.

I'll tell Ian Beale and the owners of the Body Shop to keep you away then yeah?
Listen. I would steal! It'd be about survival so I would have to steal. What? I understand why now, if you've got a pound a day and you're saying that's what the majority of the world are living off, I can't turn around and say "don't steal, don't feed your kids, don't feed yourself".

Which country would you like to invade and why?
I wouldn't ever want to invade a country. That's what has caused the destruction of Africa and so many other countries.

What if you were Ashley Thomas, invading Africa to get rid of all the bad people and make everything good?
No. Invading is bad. When you invade there's always bloodshed. No. [heats up] Invade means "to enter a place in large numbers especially with intrusive effect". I don't want to do that.

If you could be any politician, dictator or world leader, who would you have been and why?
Martin Luther King. I think he left a legacy of understanding in mankind that few people had and I think that what he stood for is the reason why nuff of us can walk the streets today. He's not the only person I'd want to be but he's the first person who springs to mind before Obama.

Worse form of torture you can imagine?
Law Abiding Citizen. Whatever Gerard Butler does to the people who kill his daughter. That's the worst. He injects him with adrenaline so that he won't pass out from the pain. He chops off each finger and does all that mad stuff.

How do you envisage your funeral?
I don't think about death you know.

So no special requests?
I don't think about stuff like that.

What would make you start a war?
Someone disrespecting or abusing my family.

Fair enough. Would you rather...
Wait, let me go back to that. A war? I don't think I'd start a war cause wars kill innocent people. I'd just head straight for the source.

So there's nothing you're passionate about that you'd war over.
Yeah human rights and freedom of speech.

You were one of them guys who'd fight for the right to go to toilet during school lessons wasn't you Bash?
[Kisses teeth] Listen, that's not serious. The right to have freedom of speech and live your life how you please, just basic human rights. Don't buss joke about it...
